Man United receive huge blow as ‘Excellent’ £102m-rated Benfica superstar finally agrees transfer to Join Rival club

Benfica Wonderkid Joao Neves has chosen to join Paris Saint-Germain despite Manchester United’s interest, according to the Portuguese daily Record (page 8).

The Red Devils have been keeping a close eye on the 19-year-old throughout the past year, but it looks like Paris Saint-Germain is going to prevail in the competition to sign him.

Neves is reportedly “very close” to leaving Benfica, according to records.

He “would rather” play for Les Parisiens than for United. In their quest, the Red Devils had “already given up.”

Luis Enrique, the manager of Paris Saint-Germain, was a major factor in the young player’s conversion.

The French champions have made an offer of £59 million, add-ons included. Realizing they won’t get anywhere near the £101 million release, Benfica is trying to extend the transfer package on the table.

United set to miss out on fantastic talent
The Red Devils are in the transfer market for a new defensive midfielder. Neves would be an ideal acquisition, considering his young age and immense potential.

The 19-year-old is strong with the ball at his feet and has excelled with his tackling, duel winning ability and recoveries. He is only 174cm in height, but has a brilliant leap in the air.

United are now set to miss out on his services. It is a transfer blow for the club. The budget could be a reason behind not competing with PSG for the ‘excellent‘ teenager.

The club have already spent £36.5m on Joshua Zirkzee while Lille centre-back Leny Yoro is set to cost £52m.

After a huge outlay of £88.5m, United may want more player sales before making another marquee signing
