Man United ready to wait to sign Liverpool legend to replace Ten Hag in June – report

Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United has not had an easy start to the current premier league campaign.

Even though the Dutch coach received a big investment in the summer, he hasn’t been able to effectively implement his strategies on the field.

Harry Maguire’s equalizer in stoppage time kept the Red Devils’ blushes intact just minutes from losing yet another match against FC Porto this season.

It seems like we’ve been saying this for a while, but Erik ten Hag won’t stick around for very long if things don’t improve soon.

In the event that happens, the Red Devils will be planning for potential replacements for the Dutch coach.

As per TDF, Man United are ready to wait to sign Liverpool legend, Xabi Alonso, who has been doing an excellent job at Bayer Leverkusen.

Alonso, against all odds, went invincible last season to secure the Bundesliga title. By doing so, the Spaniard ended Bayern Munich’s decade-long dominance. His team now find themselves in the Champions League and have started well this season too.

The main challenge that Man United have to face with the potential arrival of Xabi Alonso is his reluctance to leave Bayer Leverkusen midseason. Should they want to appoint him their new manager, they will need to wait until the start of next season.

There is also the question mark as to whether a Liverpool legend would want to move to Old Trafford, even for a managerial job.

Thus, there is a lot of uncertainty surrounding this appointment and the Red Devils could choose to with someone who is available right now like Thomas Tuchel.
