Man United on alert as Bayern Munich reveal ‘difficult’ Jamal Musiala contract talks as he sends strong transfer message

Max Eberl, director of sport of Bayern Munich, acknowledged that the team is finding the contract negotiations with star player Jamal Musiala “difficult.”

After joining Bayern from Chelsea in 2019, Musiala has grown into a vital player, although his current contract is set to expire at the end of the next campaign.

During Euro 2024 this summer, the 21-year-old played brilliantly for Germany, finishing as joint top scorer and earning a spot on the tournament roster.

In the Premier League, teams like Manchester United and Manchester City are showing interest in signing Musiala, but Bayern is committed to going above and beyond to retain him.

“It’s difficult, but not impossible – as Jamal knows what he has at Bayern Munich,” Eberl told German TV channel Sport1.

“He grew up here and has brought himself to this level. Talks are intensifying. We are extremely ambitious and he knows that he wants to win titles.”

Real Madrid are also tracking Musiala, with reports suggesting the forward wants parity with Harry Kane on wages of around £300,000 a week.

During the summer Musiala insisted he was not looking to move, saying: “I am very happy at FC Bayern and fully focused on our goals with the club and the national team.

“I don’t think too much about where I will be playing in five years. Things can always change quickly in the world of football.”

Musiala missed out on silverware last season but has already won four Bundesliga titles, three DFL-Supercups, the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup with Bayern.

And the German heavyweights are desperate not to lose their prized asset, with club president Herbert Hainer saying last week: “Many say that he will one day be the best player in the world.

“In that regard, we will do everything we can to secure him with FC Bayern long-term. In my opinion, he could easily become the next Thomas Muller and play here for the next 20 years. I’m very optimistic that we’ll see him at Bayern for a long time to come.”

Musiala has scored twice in four games for Bayern so far this season and team-mate Kane lavished praise on him after their 6-1 win over Holstein Kiel on Saturday.

“He’s an amazing player,” Kane told beIN Sports. “I’ve said before that he’s got unbelievable talent. If he keeps adding goals and assists to his game, then he’s going to be a really frightening player. Really happy with him. We’re going to need him for the rest of the season, for sure.”
