Manchester United will allow Antony to leave on loan this summer as long as his full wage-packet is covered, according to a report.
Reunited with Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford, Antony joined United from Ajax near the close of the summer 2022 transfer season for an initial £82 million.
Even though Antony scored three goals in his first three Premier League games, he was regarded as one of the Red Devils’ worst-value acquisitions in recent memory.
He only managed one goal and one assist in the 2023–24 Premier League season, which saw United finish in eighth place—a club record.
According to ESPN, United is only willing to let go of Antony temporarily if a team is willing to pay his salary for the upcoming campaign.
Antony is not the only United player on the chopping block, with the club keen to shift several first-team players this summer as part of a ‘clear-out’.
Defenders Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof and Aaron Wan-Bissaka will all be allowed to leave for the right price, as are midfielders Casemiro, Christian Eriksen and Scott McTominay.
United have already sold Mason Greenwood, Donny van de Beek, Willy Kambwala and Alvaro Fernandez, and Anthony Martial’s nine-year stay at Old Trafford came to an end last month after the club decided not to renew his expiring contract.
In terms of incomings, United have confirmed the signings of Joshua Zirkzee and Leny Yoro in the last few days.
They could make renewed attempts to sign Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite and Bayern Munich’s Matthijs de Ligt, but the feeling from within the club is they will no longer panic in the transfer market under Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s new footballing structure
