Man United inform Chelsea of Kobbie Mainoo transfer fee as star’s ‘transfer preference’ revealed ahead of summer transfer
According to a new report, Manchester United have informed Chelsea of the transfer fee they expect for him as the midfield’s transfer preference is revealed.
A major squad overhaul is expected at Old Trafford this summer as Rúben Amorim reshapes the Manchester United squad he has inherited from Erik ten Hag.
Several players will depart when their contracts expire in June, including Christian Eriksen, Victor Lindelöf, Jonny Evans, and Tom Heaton.
In addition, the club is looking to offload Casemiro to remove his high wages from the books, while Marcus Rashford, Antony, and Tyrell Malacia are not in Amorim’s plans and could also be sold.
There are also ongoing rumours about potential sales of high-value Academy graduates such as Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo, whose departures would be considered “pure profit” in the club’s accounts, helping to ease financial pressures.
United name Mainoo transfer fee
Amid the possibility that United may sell Mainoo this summer, many top European clubs have been circling the England international, and the most prominent name so far has been Premier League rivals Chelsea.
Chelsea are said to have made their interest in Mainoo known to Manchester United in the January transfer window, although no official approach was made at the time.
However, according to CaughtOffside, with the London club looking to offload Romeo Lavia due to concerns over his long-term fitness, Chelsea want to bring in Mainoo this coming summer to balance their squad and bring extra quality in midfield.
It is also stated that United will be looking for a fee of around £75 million from Chelsea, and the club would also have to fork out wages close to their top earners, with various reports claiming the 19-year-old wants wages of between £150-180k a week.
Mainoo’s current deal expires in 2027, and he earns around £ 20,000 a week at the club, but he wants his new contract to reflect is status as a valuable first-team player
