Man United hold talks with Euros 2024 star Forward who Sir Jim Ratcliffe has already signed once
The Old Trafford outfit have been linked with a number of players in the summer transfer window as a new name gets into the conversation after an impressive Euros campaigns
Switzerland winger Dan Ndoye has emerged as a Manchester United target after a breakout Euro 2024 campaign.
The 23-year-old, who plays his club football for Bologna, missed out on Switzerland’s World Cup squad in 2022 but is part of Murat Yakin’s group in Germany.
Switzerland finished second in the group, one goal behind the hosts, whom he scored in a 1-1 draw.
He started all three of the group matches. If Ndoye were to sign with United, it would be his second signing for a team led by Jim Ratcliffe.
The teenage player was brought to Nice in 2019 by Sir Jim Ratcliffe, a part-owner of the Premier League team, after Ndoye advanced through the ranks at Lausanne-Sport, another club in his portfolio.
After that stint in France, he went back to Switzerland and joined Basel before transferring to his current club, Bologna, in 2023.
Last season, he made 32 appearances in Serie A and scored in a late-season victory over Napoli to help the team qualify for the Champions League.
According to Sky Italy, Ndoye has ‘entered United’s sights’ after impressing against Germany. His early goal left Switzerland on the verge of topping Group A, only for Niclas Fullkrug to score a late equaliser for Julian Nagelsmann’s side.
Ndoye is also said to be on the radar of a number of Italian clubs, Among that number is Inter Milan, the 2023-24 champions, who count former United forward Alexis Sanchez among several players set to leave upon the expiry of contract this summer.
Bologna paid a little over £7m to sign Ndoye from Basel. While no fee has been mentioned for a sale, the interest from England and Italy could allow them to make a tidy profit if they choose to cash in.
Ndoye is not the only international star to be linked with United this summer. Portugal youngster Joao Neves has long been mentioned as a potential recruit, while Canada striker Jonathan David – away on the other side of the Atlantic for the Copa America – continues to be linked.
One player who looks unlikely to move to Old Trafford, however, is Jean-Clair Todibo.
The French defender is currently at Nice, with some suggesting he was the subject of comments made by Ratcliffe hitting out at UEFA for blocking a deal between the two clubs.
