Man United hero Joshua Zirkzee taunts Arsenal fans with surprise message after FA Cup heartbreak
Joshua Zirkzee, the penalty hero for Manchester United, has angered the Arsenal supporters with his conduct after they were eliminated from the FA Cup on Sunday.
After a thrilling penalty shootout, the Gunners were eliminated from the FA Cup, capping off a dismal week for them.
Bruno Fernandes gave Arsenal the lead in the 52nd minute, but Diogo Dalot’s dismissal and Gabriel’s rapid equalizers on the hour mark appeared to have turned the tide in their favor.
With 20 minutes remaining, Harry Maguire fouled Kai Havertz inside the penalty area, giving Mikel Arteta’s team the opportunity to grab the lead.
However, Martin Odegaard’s penalty was saved by Altay Bayindir.
The match would eventually drift into a penalty shootout despite Arsenal’s best efforts to win it in normal and extra time.
Havertz saw his penalty saved before Zirkzee won it to send 8,000 United fans into raptures.
As he reeled away in celebration, the Dutchman caught the ire of the Arsenal fans as he was seen waving at the home supporters who were in the upper tier before completing his celebration in front of the away end.
Unsurprisingly, such a celebration annoyed the home supporters who likely felt disrespected by the actions of Zirkzee.
Zirkzee has had a testing relationship with the United fanbase since his summer move from Bologna.
Just a couple of weeks ago, the striker was jeered off the pitch by the Old Trafford faithful after he was replaced in the first half by Kobbie Mainoo.
The forward immediately grabbed his coat from the bench and jogged straight down the tunnel.
He soon returned to watch the remainder of the match from the bench
