Man United have internally discussed England star whose transfer fee has now dropped to £50m

Brentford striker Ivan Toney’s asking price has reportedly lowered to roughly £50 million this summer, but Manchester United has apparently talked about him internally. There is just one year remaining on Toney’s Brentford contract.

His value has likely decreased as a result of his protracted betting ban and several injury setbacks that have led to a general decline in form, but it appears that Man Utd is still considering him, per The Athletic.

The Red Devils may find the England international to be a valuable addition, but given that they already have two other excellent young strikers in Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee, it’s possible that the price will have to drop slightly.

That might not leave much room for Toney to come in and be a regular starter, even if there’d surely still be some value in having him as a rotation option in Erik ten Hag’s side.

Ivan Toney to Manchester United?
Toney could be useful to ensure there’s not too much pressure on Hojlund and Zirkzee at this relatively early stage in their careers, while the 28-year-old could also surely be a good and experienced player for the youthful duo to learn from.

It will be interesting to see how this saga develops, as clubs will surely swoop for Toney given that there’ll be an opportunity due to Brentford’s desire not to lose him on a free in a year’s time.

Toney has been linked with other big clubs in the past but those links have gone quieter in recent times
