Man United have £25m head-start in Jamal Musiala transfer race after completed deal -Report
Manchester United already has £25 million set up for their summer spending, which may be helpful for Jamal Musiala.
The German powerhouses and the forward’s representatives are at a standoff, which seems to have top European teams on high alert.
According to recent rumors from The Express, Musiala ‘rejected’ an additional contract offer from the Bundesliga team.
There are rumors that Bayern may now need to cash in on the German superstar. There have been rumors about a possible £120 million transfer fee.
That would set a Premier League record, and Manchester City, United’s next door neighbors, are reportedly the favorites.
Musiala has dual nationality through his Nigerian-British father and played for England at age-group level right up to the Under-21s before choosing to represent Germany at senior level. He played for the host nation at Euro 2024 this summer and has totted-up 36 caps to date with six goals.
The former Southampton and Chelsea youngster has played 167 games for Bayern in all competitions. Musiala has 45 goals and 32 assists to show for his efforts with the German heavyweights.
One alarm bell for any team might be the staggering transfer fee suggested. United, too, would probably need to re-quality for the Champions League to have any chance of signing him.
However, if they do re-emerge at the top table in Europe this season, one deal already completed next summer is set to act as a welcome boost to their transfer budget.
Jadon Sancho left Old Trafford on deadline day as he finally pursued a fresh start at Chelsea, and he has already made his mark for the Stamford Bridge side.
The deal, starting with an initial loan, will be made permanent for £25million next summer. The Sancho clause is an obligation rather than option, so Chelsea cannot back out and United have guaranteed future income.
That leaves United with just another £95million to find for Musiala’s proposed signature.
From a PSR perspective you can amortise the fee over the length of the contract (up to 5 years), therefore we are looking at needing to find 25 million in PSR profit next summer.
The Sancho deal will NOT generate that as the Sancho transfer fee of 75million will still be at around 30 million remaining from a PSR perspective. (2 out of 5 years remaining).
