Man United given Cole Palmer transfer timeline as Chelsea truth delivered -Reports
Palmer, a lifelong supporter of Manchester United, is perhaps the best player in the Premier League right now.
Cole Palmer would like to wait until the conclusion of his career to sign with Manchester United because his support for the team “is gone.”
According to Pat Nevin, a former Chelsea player and BBC Radio 5Live commentator, he wouldn’t want to leave a “vibrant team” like Enzo Maresca’s squad.
In the summer of 2023, Palmer signed a £42.5 million contract to join Chelsea, and he has since flourished at Stamford Bridge.
The 22-year-old was eager to move on and play regular football somewhere else, even though he was making an impression on the margins of City’s first squad during their treble-winning 2022–2023 season.
Since joining Chelsea, he has become an England international and was named PFA Fans’ Player of the Year and PFA Young Player of the Year last term.
Palmer bagged 25 goals and 15 assists in all competitions last season and already has 13 goals and six assists to his name this season.
Having been a boyhood Manchester United fan, there has been talk of Palmer potentially making the move to Old Trafford in the future.
But Nevin has poured cold water over any thought that move could come in the near future.
“Cole Palmer’s support for Manchester United is gone. It really has gone,” Nevin told Grosvenor Sport.
“Maybe some part of him might want to go there at the end of his career but that really won’t be in his mind.
“There’s no way he’d want to leave a vibrant young team like Chelsea for the current Manchester United, despite their good performance against Liverpool.
“That move would be years and years away from even being considered and if Chelsea fans get worried they just need to look at his contract length.”
In terms of how much it would take to prise Palmer away from Stamford Bridge, Nevin believes it would be a value in excess of £100million.
“Cole Palmer is worth well in excess of £100million, that is an absolute given,” Nevin added.
“Having said that, the market has changed from English clubs being able to throw money at players without worrying too much about consequences, look at Everton and Newcastle who are having to be careful at the moment.
“But Cole Palmer is one player who will still be seen as worth taking the risk on and I think there will be attempts to sign him from Chelsea.
