Man United ‘enter talks’ with £73m signing after impressive champions league display ahead of pre-season

Manchester United are preparing to enter discussions with Jadon Sancho regarding his future at Old Trafford.

According to ESPN, a departure from United remains the most likely outcome but his high market value and massive wages make a permanent transfer.

Technical director Jason Wilcox and director of football negotiations Matt Hargreaves are set to discuss the situation with Sancho and his representatives before the start of pre-season training.

United players not participating in international tournaments this summer are scheduled to return to the club next month.

The Premier League giants would ideally prefer to have more clarity on Sancho’s situation ahead of their first friendly against Rosenborg in Norway on July 15.

The England international moved to Old Trafford from Borussia Dortmund in a deal worth £73 million in 2021.

In 82 appearances for the Red Devils, he has scored 12 goals and registered six assists.

He rejoined Dortmund on loan for the second half of the season in the January transfer window after a public fallout with Ten Hag.

Before that, the United head coach banished him from the first-team squad. He did not even allow the youngster to train with the squad, effectively forcing him out of the dressing room.

Dortmund are interested in signing the player for a third time but would want him on another loan. Sancho’s current contract with United runs until 2026.

Sending the 24-year-old on loan again is not a financially lucrative option for United.

The hierarchy faces a pivotal decision with two distinct paths to resolve the situation. The first option is to reintegrate the forward into the first team after making a truce between the player and the manager.

There are major doubts over the future of Ten Hag and his position under review right now. If INEOS decide to move on from him, Sancho could return to Old Trafford.
