Man United duo ‘told to leave in the summer’ as Antony gets surprise transfer lifeline -Report

According to reports, Manchester United has told Casemiro and Christian Eriksen that this will be their final season at Old Trafford as they work to strengthen their midfield.

It’s thought that Dan Ashworth, the sporting director, has been tasked with replacing the midfield tandem at Old Trafford with younger players.

Casemiro began a fruitful debut season in Manchester after joining United for £60 million with add-ons in August 2022 from Real Madrid.

He contributed to Erik ten Hag’s team’s third-place Premier League finish and Carabao Cup victory. Nevertheless, following his debut campaign, his form has declined dramatically.

As for Eriksen, he arrived at Old Trafford following the expiration of his contract at Brentford in July 2022 and he has been an integral figure in the United midfield since.

However, the 32-year-old has made just one Premier League appearance this season and it does feel like his future could be elsewhere.

According to Give Me Sport, United are preparing to offload both players next summer. Casemiro has two years left on his contract and has been linked with a move to Galatasaray this month, while Eriksen is out of contract in June 2025 and could allow his deal to run out and leave for free.

Elsewhere, Newcastle are plotting a January swoop for Antony, as per Caught Offside. The United winger has been out of favour so far this season but Eddie Howe’s staff feel they could help him turn a corner.
