Man United could have huge advantage in signing former Man City star this summer
Manchester United are interested in signing Fulham defender Tosin Adarabioyo on a free transfer this summer.
The former Manchester City youngster is out of contract at the end of the season with a number of Premier League clubs weighing up a move.
Chelsea, Tottenham and Newcastle United have also expressed an interest in the 26-year-old, who has been a regular in Marco Silva’s starting XI this season after being sidelined for two months with a groin injury early in the campaign.
Jason Wilcox, United’s newly-appointed technical director, has previously worked with Adarabioyo from their time together at the Manchester City academy where he served as Under-18s head coach academy director.
United will hope that relationship can help lure the centre-half back to Manchester with the club weighing up a move, ESPN report.
Adarabioyo has been left out of the Fulham squad for their last two Premier League matches against Crystal Palace and Brentford but Silva has insisted he remains available for selection despite the speculation over his future.
‘I know all the noise around him and his future of course. Of course I have been speaking to him, I have a really close relationship like with all the players and everything is clear between myself and him, like all the other players, and from him to me and my staff as well.
‘If Tosin is going to be on the pitch he’s going to be on the pitch, he’s going to be in the squad if I’m going decide for him to be in the squad. Nothing has changed from last week.’
United are expected to sign at least one defender this summer with major doubts over a number of currently-serving stars.
Raphael Varane and Jonny Evans are both out of contract at the end of the season while the club will listen to offers for Victor Lindelof.
Harry Maguire has enjoyed an improved campaign but his long-term future is also uncertain.
United are yet to make a decision on extending Evans’ deal while Varane is expected to leave the club – along with one of Lindelof and Maguire.
Each of United’s options at centre-half, including Lisandro Martinez and Willy Kambwala, have had spells on the sidelined this season with Casemiro forced to deputise in that role in recent weeks.
Everton star Jarrad Branthwaite is thought to be United’s top defensive target heading into the summer after his superb campaign at Goodison Park
