Man United have been given an incredible opportunity to hand Alejandro Garnacho a perfect partner in crime this summer.

Manchester United have reportedly identified Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise as one of the first top transfer targets of the Sir Jim Ratcliffe era this summer.

However, the 22-year-old’s latest injury has opened the door to doubt, and United may be tempted to look elsewhere for a less risky investment.

The Red Devils are said to be keen on bringing Olise to Old Trafford at the end of the season but face competition from Chelsea and Manchester City.

And Olise reportedly prefers a move to the red side of Manchester over Chelsea, who failed in pursuit of his signature last summer.

The Blues triggered the £35million release clause in his Palace contract before he rejected a switch and signed a new deal at Selhurst Park.

That’s claimed to also include a release clause worth £50m, which United appear keen to trigger in their hunt for a right-winger.

However, Olise’s injury record will undoubtedly be a concern during a season in which the M16 giants have been buried under their own relentless fitness issues.

The France U21 forward missed the first three months of the season with a hamstring injury and suffered a reoccurrence of the problem during Saturday’s 4-1 defeat at Brighton and Hove Albion.

Roy Hodgson has been blasted for his decision to bring Olise on from the bench when he wasn’t fully fit while Palace were already 3-0 down against their rivals.

He must now go without Olise for another two months, which also pours doubt over whether United will risk signing another injury-prone player.
