Jadon Sancho Man United transfer return clause explained as Chelsea star shines again -Report

Latest News on the Manchester United transfer window as Erik ten Hag’s team struggles and Jadon Sancho maintains his strong start at Chelsea Jadon Sancho’s 50 minutes were all it needed for Chelsea to accomplish a feat that had taken Manchester United over eighteen months to achieve.

Sancho made an immediate impression against West Ham on Saturday in his debut appearance for his new team.

While Nicolas Jackson deserves much of the credit for winning the ball halfway inside the opposition half and miles from goal on the left, Sancho’s deft pass and movement to create the opening originally exposed West Ham’s defense. Chelsea led 1-0 at the London Stadium seven seconds later.

It took Sancho 13 games to get his last two assists for United, spanning across the entirety of 2022/23 plus the small part of 2023/24 that he was involved in the first team. Already he looks to be more at home in London than he ever truly was at Old Trafford.

For many of a United persuasion, it is already a frustration. Having spent £72million to sign Sancho, rarely (if ever) did he show his best.

Not only was output relatively low compared to his Borussia Dortmund days but overall impact also lacked.

With Sancho brought in to be the final piece on the right of attack despite favouring the left, Chelsea have freed him up in an instant.

The caveat is just how small of a sample size this is, and the opponents not being of the highest quality.

For what could be a £50million net loss for United, Sancho’s performances at Chelsea are hard to ignore. Initially sent out on a loan, United are almost certain to see him exit on a permanent deal next summer.

The price they get will be between £20-25million depending on how high up the table Chelsea finish, MEN Sport understands. The move will only come into effect if Enzo Maresca’s side end 14th or higher though, according to reports, making it extremely likely.

Sancho’s time at United came to a mutually agreed end after disagreements with Erik ten Hag that although patched up, were not conducive to another full season spent together. At his best though, Sancho may well have had plenty to offer the Red Devils.

Sporting director Dan Ashworth was keen to put context on just where the 24-year-old stood though. “We felt we had enough depth in that particular position to be able to cover it,” he explained.

“We’ve got four really good wide players, Jadon was a fifth, and it just enabled us to make that decision. If it was good for him and good for us it was something we were willing to consider.”

United will face Chelsea next at Old Trafford in just over six weeks. Sancho is not eligible to feature due to his loan.
