Ivan Toney has seemingly got several clubs interested in his signature amid links to Manchester United.
Throughout the summer, Toney has been mentioned in transfer rumors as a possible target for United.
Due to concerns over his future, the Brentford striker has missed the team’s first two Premier League games.
Joshua Zirkzee was already signed by United this summer in an effort to expand their pool of striker alternatives.
This season, Zirkzee will go off against Rasmus Hojlund for the center forward position at Old Trafford, but rumors that Toney would still be a target for United haven’t stopped.
However, according to The Telegraph’s most recent story, Chelsea has entered the competition to recruit Toney in the last few days of the transfer season.
This latest twist comes with Toney already having agreed to a move to the Saudi Pro League with Al Ahli.
Chelsea are reported to be making a late move to try and convince the England international to remain in the Premier League, but will not be able to match the salary package offered by the club from Saudi Arabia.
United have been linked with a move for Toney all summer, but now that Erik ten Hag has Zirkzee and Hojlund in his squad it remains to be seen if signing another striker is a priority.
Brentford boss Thomas Frank has frequently been asked about Toney’s future in recent days, with the latest update coming at the weekend.
“Very good question,” Frank told reporters on Sunday when asked if Toney was set to leave Brentford. “I actually haven’t asked about that in the last two or three days, so I don’t know actually
