“i will join Man United on one condition” – Tottenham Hotspur captain Son Heung-min sends Surprise transfer message to Manchester United as possible Rashford replacement
Son Heung-min has already given his thoughts on Manchester United as the Spurs captain has been linked with a shock move to Old Trafford this summer.
Son, 32, has been in mixed form so far this season and has failed to score since September.
However, Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou rubbished any talk of Son’s ability diminishing.
“[I] still think he’s got a hell of a lot of quality and from a physical standpoint,” he said on Wednesday.
The Korean is in the final year of his contract at the club.
In November, The Telegraph reported that Spurs hold an option to extend his contract for a further season – although the clause is in the club’s control.
But according to TeamTalk, Ruben Amorim sees the Spurs man as a ‘viable target’ this summer as reports suggest there is ‘plenty of chat around Old Trafford’ that United could target the player.
However, this would go against club’s recent ‘transfer policy’ of recruiting players aged 26 or under, with Matthijs de Ligt, Noussair Mazraoui, Leny Yoro, Joshua Zirkzee, Manuel Ugarte and Sekou Kone having all signed in the summer of 2024.
Son previously gave his thoughts about the Red Devils when speaking with Pro Direct in 2021.
He revealed that he used to support the club as a youngster.
“Manchester United because obviously, Ji-sung was playing,” said Son.
Park Ji-sung made 204 appearances for Sir Alex Ferguson’s Manchester United team between 2005 and 2012, as well as being capped by South Korea 100 times.
He was known for his relentless energy in midfield and as Son explained, is a “national hero” in his home country.
“He’s a national hero,” added Son.
“In Korea also, they would say he has two hearts. He’s a national hero for me. He’s a good friend of mine.
“He offered to the players from South Korea [the way to play], he gave us hope and the opportunity.
“It’s not easy, you know, he was the first one that played in the Premier League. So I was supporting [Manchester] United, but I can’t now!”
Of course, whether this would influence Son’s potential move to United is unclear. But it is certainly something to consider
