I will join Man United on one condition – Man United target Martin Zubimendi has already made his transfer stance clear
Manchester United are set to continue their push in the transfer market and will prioritise the signing of a defensive midfielder after sealing transfers of Joshua Zirkzee and Leny Yoro
Martin Zubimendi, a transfer target for Manchester United, has already said that he will not be leaving Real Sociedad this summer.
After making an impression in La Liga the previous few years, the 25-year-old Spain international has been strongly linked to a move to Arsenal since the end of the season.
Real Sociedad academy graduate Zubimendi is also now being considered by United, who are looking to add a defensive midfielder to their roster after acquiring Leny Yoro and Joshua Zirkzee from Lille and Bologna, respectively.
The Manchester Evening News has revealed that Zubimendi is also a target for United, who struggled in the Premier League under Erik ten Hag last season, despite reports that Manuel Ugarte of Paris Saint-Germain is the club’s primary priority.
While it remains unclear who United will push for in the coming weeks, Zubimendi has already played down talk that he would be leaving Sociedad this summer following extensive links with Arsenal.
The playmaker, speaking during Euro 2024, told El Diario Vasco, via ED defiantly:
“Where am I going to play next season? I’m going to be at Real Sociedad. I have a contract with Real Sociedad and that’s where I’m most comfortable.”
Although Zubimendi’s stance could be tested by interest from United, the club could prioritise other targets if the midfielder is indeed reluctant to move.
