‘i want to play at Old Trafford’ – PSG prepared to sell kylian Mbappe to Man United with Sir Alex Ferguson in agreement with the £150m forward after shock transfer message

Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe used to wear Manchester United shirts sporting Cristiano Ronaldo’s name on the back, his mother has admitted.

Fayza Lamari has been reflecting on her son’s childhood and has gone into detail about the varied range of football shirts he used to wear as a youngster. As well as donning a United strip from time to time he also used to wear the colours of Real Madrid, AC Milan, PSG and Rennes.

Mbappe joined PSG from AS Monaco in 2017. His move to the French giants meant a return to the capital with the 24-year-old having been on the books of Paris-based club AS Bondy as a child.

Lamari opened up on her son’s love of football ahead of PSG’s 3-0 Champions League win over AC Milan on Wednesday in which Mbappe netted the opening goal. He’s now scored 10 goals in 11 games so far this season.

“He wore it (his Milan shirt) for training and even to bed,” said Lamari. “But like so many others: Real Madrid, France, PSG, Manchester United for CR7 [Cristiano Ronaldo]. He loved top strikers, but he could also wear the shirt of (Swiss striker, Alexander) Frei of Rennes.”

Though he was born in Paris and grew up in nearby Bondy it was Milan that captured Mbappe’s attention most. Lamari continued:

“He is the son of sportsmen, but he was immersed in cheering for Milan right from the start. When he came home, he would only talk about Milan. If Milan lost, he could throw the remote control at the TV and say a few bad words in Italian.”
