How Marcus Rashford reacted to Jadon Sancho’s controversial ‘freedom’ message on his Aston Villa Debut

After the Chelsea player’s social media post, Marcus Rashford was not impressed by Jadon Sancho’s attempts to involve him in his dispute with Manchester United.

After signing a loan deal with Unai Emery until the end of the season, Rashford made his Aston Villa debut on Sunday.

Following a brilliant cameo off the bench, the England international praised Villa fans on Instagram.

Sancho replied to his old teammate with the single word “freedom.” When Rashford’s effort in training failed to impress Ruben Amorim, he was allowed to leave Old Trafford in January.

Sancho also left the club under a cloud in the summer, joining Chelsea on loan in a deal which will become permanent in the summer having shared a very public falling out with Erik ten Hag the previous year. That row resulted in him being banished from the first-team

Sancho’s ‘freedom’ message has drawn ire from United supporters who watched the former Borussia Dortmund star flounder during his three seasons back in Manchester while being among the club’s biggest earners.

While his message appeared to be an attempt to elicit support from a fellow United exile, Rashford was not on the same page.

Sancho publicly challenged ten Hag’s comments over his performances in training in a wild social media post in August 2023. He did not play for United again that season, rejoining Dortmund for the second-half of the 2023-24 campaign.

While he was briefly integrated under the Dutchman during pre-season, Sancho was offloaded to Chelsea in a deal that includes an obligation to buy for £25million.

While he is still technically a United player. He is thought to have left the players’ WhatsApp chat ‘some time ago.’

Sancho’s social media activity was ridiculed by former United defender Paul Parker, who labelled the winger ‘a weak little boy.’

‘Jadon Sancho reminds me of a weak little boy who is using someone else to air his grievances,’ he told myBettingSites.

‘He doesn’t have the strength, power, or presence to do it on his own, so he’s trying to drag Rashford into his mess.”
