CONFIRMED: £70m Real Madrid superstar ‘holds private transfer talks’ after dropping major Liverpool hint

French international Aurelien Tchouameni failed to hold down a regular place in the Real Madrid team last season, fuelling speculation he will move on this summer

Real Madrid star Aurelien Tchouameni is exploring the possibility of a move despite seemingly dismissing the prospect of joining Liverpool.

The French midfielder joined the LaLiga giants from Monaco 12 months ago for a £68million fee, and made 50 appearances in all competitions.

However, he found himself benched for some pivotal games, including both legs of the Champions League semi-final clash with Manchester City.

And Carlo Ancelotti’s preference for the experienced duo of Toni Kroos and Luka Modric has further been exacerbated this summer with both players awarded contract extensions at the Bernabeu.

Those developments fuelled speculation that Tchouameni, whose stock within European football remains high, could be set for a switch to Anfield.

But the 23-year-old strongly hinted that would not be the case after liking a post on Twitter. Translated from French, the tweet read:

“Tchouameni is not for sale. Do you understand Liverpool?”

However, the Bundesliga has now emerged as a possible destination. SPORT1 are reporting that Bayern Munich are tracking the player who broke English hearts in Qatar, scoring the opening goal in France’s 2-1 quarter-final win.

And he is set to seek a move if he cannot be guaranteed a regular starting place by Real.

Despite retaining their league title last season, new Bayern boss Thomas Tuchel is determined to bring in reinforcements amid an inconsistent campaign.

The club are also pursuing Spurs striker Harry Kane, having had a £70million bid already rejected.

And on Tuesday, Bayern completed the signing of Napoli defender Kim Min-jae. The £43million paid for the South Korean represents a record for an Asian player, who has arrived on a five-year deal.

Any proposed bid for Tchouameni could yet be dependent on the future of Ryan Gravenberch, though. The former Ajax star was himself linked with a move to Liverpool this summer, having previously spoken of his admiration for the club and Jurgen Klopp.

However, the 21-year-old last month seemingly committed his future to the German champions, stating a desire to fight for his place:

“I am at a top three club in the world. I think that’s beautiful and special,” he said. “I am not giving up just like that. My goal is still to succeed at Bayern.”
