Chelsea ‘exploring’ surprise swap deal with Man United for Jadon Sancho
According to reports, Chelsea has entered the fight to sign Manchester United’s Jadon Sancho before the summer transfer deadline.
After responding to manager Erik ten Hag’s criticism on social media last season, Sancho was cut off from the United team.
During the second half of the season, he returned to his former team, Borussia Dortmund, on loan. He helped them go to the Champions League final, but they couldn’t raise the money necessary to sign him on a permanent basis.
Despite Ten Hag’s welcoming of Sancho back into the United first team system this summer, the winger has not been included in the matchday squad for any of their Premier League games this season, and rumors about his future have intensified once more.
Juventus had discussed a move for Sancho earlier this week, and they are set to be rivalled by Chelsea in the race for the 24-year-old.
Sky Sports News report that Chelsea are ‘exploring’ a deal with United, who would prefer to sell Sancho but are mindful to loaning him out again.
The report also claims the Blues may include a player as a makeweight, with Sky Sport Italia’s Gianluca Di Marzio adding that Ben Chilwell and Raheem Sterling could be on the table.
Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca has made no secret that Chilwell and Sterling are not in his plans, urging the duo to find new clubs before the transfer window shuts on Friday.
Though there is currently not much of a market for Chilwell, Sterling is the subject of interest from fellow Premier League sides Aston Villa and Crystal Palace.
It is also unknown if Sterling would entertain a move to United having previously played for rivals Liverpool and Manchester City
