Casemiro breaks silence on why Manchester United’s season has been poor

In the midst of a dismal season that has left Manchester United in their worst form since the Premier League has existed, the situation cannot go unnoticed.

Despite winning a surprise FA Cup title by beating City, the inertia of negative results did not stop. Erik ten Hag was sacked in October, and the arrival of Ruben Amorim did not bring the expected stability.

The team was shipwrecked and dropped to 16th place, with just 39 points and only one game to play.

At this stage, the margin for error has disappeared, and the possibility of making up for the season can be summed up in just one game: the Europa League final against Tottenham.

Casemiro, one of the few veterans who still has a strong voice in the dressing room, bluntly acknowledged that the campaign has been a failure.

He spoke without hiding, explaining that a change of coach and style affected performance, and acknowledged that the team focused too much on the Europa League in the last few games.

The Brazilian insisted that there are no excuses for a club that historically aspires to the top.

He showed self-criticism and made it clear that winning the European title could mean a dignified closure, although it does not fix what has already happened.

His message was clear: the club need to aspire to aim for more. The midfielder hinted that the mentality must change, not just the tactics.

The demand in the dressing room must regain strength. And although he did not want to describe the season as a salvageable whole, he did point out that a win in Bilbao would allow the season to end with some dignity.

“I always say that the final part is always the most beautiful and the most important. We know that in the Premier League, it didn’t go as we had hoped.

Well, we have a great opportunity against Tottenham to bring happiness and joy not only to ourselves but also to the club and the fans. That is very important.

But we know that the season, regarding matches, was not good, especially for a club like Manchester United. Here, we always expect titles and to be at the top of the table. But we have a very good opportunity and a very nice challenge to win a title and have a bit of happiness at the end of the season.”

“We’ve had many ups and downs. We changed managers and then systems. It’s true that in the last five or six matches we were completely focused on the Europa League. But of course, when it comes to Manchester United, you need to win and be at the top of the table.

There are no excuses. So next season, we need to be stronger; above all, we need to win more matches and earn more points.

When it comes to Manchester United, we always have to think about titles and winning. Well, it’s difficult to talk about whether it saves it or not. In the end, what does saving mean? What does winning mean? Everyone sees it differently.”
