Bruno Fernandes Surprise Man United transfer update emerges after ‘offer to leave’

Man United captain Bruno Fernandes has recently opened up on how he could have left Old Trafford last summer before signing a new contract.

Following the Reds captain’s admission that he may have departed last summer, Manchester United has received an update on Bruno Fernandes’ future at Old Trafford.

The 30-year-old has had an incredible season with Ruben Amorim’s squad. Fernandes has scored 16 goals and given 13 assists in 44 appearances, despite United’s difficulties under the former Sporting CP manager.

He scored a hat trick, including two penalties, in last Thursday’s 4-1 victory over Real Sociedad, which was his best performance of the season.

“I sat with the club because I had an offer to leave,” he said last week. “We talked about the possibility of me leaving the club or staying.

“They said what they wanted from me. I just asked if they still see me as part of the future of the club or not. I spoke at the time with (Erik) Ten Hag also

“He was very clear with me, the club was very clear with me, that they thought I would be a big part of this rebuild. I thought that we could be successful.”

And journalist Fabrizio Romano, who specialises in transfers, has been answering questions on Fernandes’ future in his latest newsletter for GiveMeSport. The Italian claims that United’s skipper is going nowhere anytime soon.

“Yes, he signed a new deal eight months ago as he trusts the project and he’s a key player for Ruben Amorim,” Romano said. “He’s so important for United and he’s staying.”
