BREAKING: Erik ten Hag’s plan to repeat Casemiro trick pays off as Man United get transfer green light to complete £30m transfer ahead of Liverpool

Fiorentina are open to selling midfielder Sofyan Amrabat before the close of the summer transfer window with Manchester United remaining linked to the Moroccan star

Fiorentina have confirmed they will listen to offers for Sofyan Amrabat in the closing weeks of the transfer window, leaving the door open for Manchester United to move for the player.

The Italian club’s CEO Joe Barone responded to a question on the Moroccan international – who was an unused substitute in Fiorentina’s opening day Serie A victory at Genoa this weekend – by claiming that the club were ‘always ready’ for transfer activity, despite just weeks of the window remaining.

The agent of Amrabat has confirmed clubs want to sign the midfielder this summer amid interest from both United and Liverpool.

Reds boss Klopp met with his representative earlier this year while Erik ten Hag previously coached the player at FC Utrecht.

Bruno Fernandes reveals his transfer plan after leaving Man Utd: “I’m not saying no”

It is United who are thought to have the most advanced interest for Amrabat and the latest update from Fiorentina suggests that a deal can come to fruition.

This echoes United’s transfer window last year when a lengthy pursuit of a holding midfielder eventually paid off with the high-profile arrival of Casemiro.

“We are always ready for other comings and goings,” Fiorentina chief executive Barone said when quizzed on Amrabat, as quoted by Labaro Viola.

“If there’s someone who isn’t happy, we can satisfy him between now and the end of the transfer window.”

Amrabat returned to the club’s training facilities last month but is believed to be desperate to leave Fiorentina – who promised him in January that he could move in the summer.

That he was an unused substitute this weekend speaks to the likelihood of an exit.

Speaking to Voetbal Primeur earlier this summer, Amrabat’s agent Mahmoud El Boustati explained: “Quite a few clubs are interested in Sofyan. It is now a matter of making the right choice. He is still just a Fiorentina player.

If something interesting comes up, Sofyan is open to the step, Fiorentina are too. There are two, three clubs that he is open to.”

United are keen to sign another central midfielder before the close of the window following the sale of Fred with negotiations ongoing to offload Donny van de Beek with interest remaining in Scott McTominay, while Marcel Sabitzer’s loan deal from the second half of last season was not renewed
