BREAKING – Erik ten Hag explains how Man United will replace him vs Everton after sending surprise message to fans
Man Utd will be without Erik ten Hag when they travel to face Everton in the Premier League after the international break.
Erik ten Hag is confident that his coaching staff will be able to step in for him when he serves his one-game touchline ban for Manchester United’s trip to face Everton later this month.
The Dutchman will be suspended for United’s trip to Goodison Park following the international break after he picked up his third yellow card of the season in the weekend win over Luton.
Ten Hag was shown a yellow card by referee Graham Scott after he complained to officials when Luton Town were awarded a late throw-in that looked as if it should have gone United’s way.
It was the third time the United manager had been booked this season, after he was also cautioned during defeats to Tottenham and Arsenal earlier in the campaign.
United will now be without Ten Hag for the trip to Everton later in the month, with assistants Mitchell van der Gaag and Steve McClaren set to take charge of the team.
Asked to clarify why he was shown a yellow card against Luton, the United manager said: “Why? The throw in. It was the second time and it was so clear and obvious our ball. It was my remark, therefore I was booked.”
Asked if he would get fined for his rash behaviour, he joked: “Fining myself? The players get fined when they get a red card; for a booking, they won’t. Not the manager. There is a certain point where you have to accept decisions and I should do as well.”
When asked how much it would impact United’s approach against Everton, the manager added: “We have a very competent coaching staff and they will take over. My coaching staff is very competent.”
