ANTHONY RETURN CONFIRMED: Great news for fans as Fabrizio Romano confirms Anthony finally returns to Man United as he arrives Carrington for training today

Manchester United have announced that winger Antony will return to the squad after being interviewed by Greater Manchester Police over allegations of assault made by a former girlfriend.

The club issued a statement on Friday morning, confirming that the Brazilian, who returned to the UK earlier this week, has ‘cooperated with police inquiries in both Brazil and the UK’.

As a result he will resume training at Carrington and be available for selection.

United believe it is appropriate that Antony is available for selection as he has not been arrested, detained or charged. He will not, however, be available for tomorrow’s clash with Crystal Palace at Old Trafford.

Elsewhere, United are busy preparing for the aforementioned tussle with Palace, in which they will be targeting a third successive win in all competitions. The Reds beat the same opponent 3-0 in the Carabao Cup in midweek.

Meanwhile, Barcelona are reportedly keeping a close eye on United striker Anthony Martial and are ‘considering’ a move for his signature.

Manchester United released and official statement:

“Since allegations were first made in June, Antony has co-operated with police inquiries in both Brazil and the UK, and he continues to do so”.

“As Antony’s employer, Manchester United has decided that he will resume training at Carrington, and be available for selection, while police inquiries proceed. This will be kept under review pending further developments in the case”.

“As a club, we condemn acts of violence and abuse. We recognise the importance of safeguarding all those involved in this situation, and acknowledge the impact these allegations have on survivors of abuse”.
