Amad, Rasmus Hojlund and Garnacho to start – Man United predicted starting XI vs Leicester City; Team news And injury updates in Carabao cup

When Manchester United hosts Leicester City in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup at Old Trafford on Wednesday, Ruud van Nistelrooy will be looking to get off to a winning start to his time as interim manager.

After Erik ten Hag left the Reds on Monday, Van Nistelrooy was placed in temporary command and will now lead the team for the first time.

It is the Dutchman’s responsibility to try to improve the atmosphere at Old Trafford.

The Reds enter the encounter against the Foxes having only won one of their previous eight games, following Sunday’s 2-1 loss to West Ham United, which was the last straw for Ten Hag. United, who easily defeated Barnsley 7-0 in the previous Carabao Cup round,

Van Nistelrooy could hand just a second appearance of the season to reserve goalkeeper Altay Bayindir. The Turkey international, who joined United from Fenerbahce in September last year, started the win over Barnsley last month and could be handed some minutes at Andre Onana’s expense.

A new manager, caretaker or otherwise, means there is always a chance of a formation change. But presuming Van Nistelrooy does stick with a back four, it is likely he will stick with full-back duo Diogo Dalot and Noussair Mazraoui at right-back and left-back respectively.

Jonny Evans, who was an unused substitute against West Ham, could be handed a start in the heart of the back four, as could Victor Lindelof. Both Matthijs de Ligt and Lisandro Martinez would benefit from a breather ahead of this weekend’s clash with Chelsea.

In midfield, Van Nistelrooy could rotate slightly, bringing Manuel Ugarte back into the team. He was an unused substitute against the Hammers.

A lack of options, however, means Christian Eriksen and Bruno Fernandes could keep their places. Casemiro is poised to be the only other senior midfielder available for selection.

In attack, Amad is worthy of a start after stepping off the bench and having a hand in Casemiro’s goal at the London Stadium. He could start on the right wing, joining forces with Joshua Zirkzee and Alejandro Garnacho up front.
