Amad makes surprise decision on Man United future after changing agent this summer
Amad Diallo says he would love to stay at Manchester United “all his life”
Amad Diallo, a winger for Manchester United, has stated that he would be content to stay with the team for the rest of his life.
Tuesday night, before Manchester United’s matchup with Real Betis at Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego, California, the Ivorian had a conversation with media. In the three preseason games that United has played thus far, Amad has started two.
He scored against Rangers and then put on another outstanding show against Premier League rivals Arsenal to round up his incredible effort against the Scottish powerhouse.
Unusually, Erik ten Hag did not accompany Amad to the press conference. Amad may soon receive a new contract from United to keep him committed to the team for the foreseeable future.
When asked whether he intends to stay beyond the expiry of his current deal which expires in the summer of 2025, the forward replied (via The Manchester Evening News), “Yeah, why not? I’m very happy here. I think everyone is happy with me because I smile with everyone, good energy. Why not stay here all my life?”
Amad opened up on the injury he sustained during pre-season last year, which ruled him out of action for five months.
For large parts of the campaign after he returned to action, Amad had to be content with a place on the bench but in the latter stages of the campaign, he saw his importance and status in the team improve.
“It was not easy for me to get an injury in pre-season last season. I was out a long time but the most important thing was to come back stronger, to help the team and in the end I was happy with my contribution. I forgot the past and now I’m thinking about the present.”
“I am so motivated to start the season, I’m so excited, I believe in the manager. Last season, I know didn’t play a lot but this season is going to be a good season for everyone and I’m so motivated to start the season.”
The 22-year-old added, “I think everyone wants to play, that’s why in the training you need to put everything in to fight and start in the XI.”
“Everyone wants to play. We have a good team, good players – Antony, Sancho, Garnacho, Rashford – so the final [decision] is the manager who can decide who is on the pitch and who is on the bench.”
“But when you don’t play you need to be ready, you can see the game when you are on the bench. Everyone is important in the team.”
Amad will almost certainly start for United against Betis in the early hours of Thursday morning
