‘They will not sack him on one condition’ – Man United told to SACK Erik Ten Hag if he ever repeats This shock decision again
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has been issued a stark warning by former Old Trafford favourite Paul Parker, who has slammed Red Devils forward Anthony Martial
Former Manchester United defender Paul Parker has blasted Anthony Martial and told Erik ten Hag he should be sacked if he picks the Frenchman ahead of Rasmus Hojlund when the international break ends.
Hojlund, a new £72m summer signing from Atalanta, made his debut for United off the bench in the 3-1 loss to Arsenal last weekend after recovering from a back injury. And Parker was impressed with the 20-year-old’s cameo, with Ten Hag bringing him on to replace Martial in the 67thminute.
As a result, the two-time Premier League winner believes Hojlund deserves to make his first start for United when they host Brighton at Old Trafford on September 16 following the international break.
And Parker believes that if Ten Hag picks Martial ahead of Hojlund, the Glazers “would almost be justified” in sacking the manager.
“If he doesn’t start against Brighton, then all fans will want Erik ten Hag fired, and it would almost be justified,” he told Spilxperten. “It wouldn’t make any sense if he started on the bench.
“Martial shouldn’t even be on the bench. There must be a youth player who is better who can sit on the bench, and Hojlund can be the first striker.
All Manchester United fans are fed up with seeing a player with a lousy attitude, who always sulks and complains, and it’s a blessing that Man Utd finally has an attacker who plays with enthusiasm.”
Reflecting on his brief appearance against Arsenal, Parker felt Hojlund “made a huge difference” with his pace and physicality.
“I actually don’t agree that you can’t already judge Rasmus Hojlund based on the minutes he had against Arsenal,” he added.
“You certainly can because he made a huge difference when he was substituted in. It was the best thing that could happen to him, that he had to replace Martial because he knew he couldn’t do worse than him.
United’s Adidas home shirt is made up of the same colour of the city’s iconic red rose and features a black collar. The collar also features a dash of both red and white, giving it a slick and modernised look.
“When he came on the pitch, he used his physique and pushed Gabriel, almost sending him flying out of Emirates. Martial has never done that. He just lies down on the ground and cries.
“He ran deep with his tremendous speed, something Martial has never done either. Martial is like a greyhound because a greyhound never runs past the hare, and that’s how Martial is.”
Fellow ex-United defender Gary Neville was also impressed by Hojlund’s debut, telling Sky Sports: “Manchester United have not had a striker they can hit.
Ronaldo was not a classic target man, [Anthony] Martial and [Marcus] Rashford certainly aren’t, but it looks as though he will mess people about. The good thing is that he’s still learning the game.”
