Manchester United are now considering a move for Zinedine Zidane amid concerns over results under Erik ten Hag.

Wednesday’s 3-0 defeat to Newcastle United simply compounded the misery for Manchester United supporters.

United lost 3-0 to Manchester City just days ago but a different lineup and different competition didn’t bring a different result.

Erik ten Hag is now under immense pressure – and we are starting to see rumours about who could replace him.

The Times now report that Ten Hag is on ‘thin ice’ and could soon lose his job at Old Trafford.

 

The defeats to City and Newcastle have left Ten Hag in real danger and Zinedine Zidane is thought to be of interest.

It’s stated that United view Zidane as a potential replacement, but any deal is complicated by the club’s takeover situation.

Zidane is out of work having left Real Madrid for a second time in 2021.

Zidane coached Real Madrid’s Castilla side before taking the top job in January 2016, embarking on a period of incredible success.

Zidane famously won three Champions League trophies in a row between 2016 and 2018, whilst he has also won La Liga twice, the Supercopa de Espana twice, the UEFA Super Cup twice and FIFA Club World Cup twice.

The 51-year-old has a quite incredible track record, losing just 36 times in 263 games across two spells as Real Madrid boss.

Some may say that Zidane was more of a man-manager than a tactical at Real Madrid, but you don’t win that many trophies without having some tactical nous.

There have been suggestions that Ten Hag doesn’t carry the charisma to command respect from United’s top stars.

Zidane not only has a huge reputation from his playing career but has been hailed for charisma by current Real boss Carlo Ancelotti.

We can understand the appeal of Zidane here, but tempting into the current mess may be a big ask
