(4-2-3-1) Rasmus Hojlund, Kobbie Mainoo and Garnacho to start – Crystal Palace vs Man United Predicted starting XI: team news and injury latest

Manchester United are likely to be without Luke Shaw once again for their trip to Crystal Palace this weekend.

Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho both scored a brace as United defeated Barnsley 7-0 in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night, following their 3-0 victory against Southampton on Saturday. Amad Diallo, one of United’s many alternatives, is also off to a strong start this season.

Erik ten Hag’s first-choice wide options up until now have been Rashford and Amad, but the Argentina international is now fighting to start on Saturday in south east London.

In the closing moments of the victory at St. Mary’s, Noussair Mazraoui, Matthijs de Ligt, and Lisandro Martinez all hobbled off.

However, ten Hag certified all three as fit this week, with Martinez starting the second half of the Barnsley match while Mazraoui and de Ligt came off the bench.

Shaw and Rasmus Hojlund are still to feature this season with the left-back’s last appearance for his club coming back in February.

United’s initial diagnosis on Shaw’s calf problem suffered in August suggested he would be back after September’s international break.

The England international was absent again against Saints and Barnsley with ten Hag explaining the club have not put a definitive timeline on his return.

‘We have a plan in our head when he can be ready but you are always dependent on how the progress will go,’ he said.

‘You can’t think, you can’t make a suggestion [of a return date] because there are so many factors why a plan can accelerate or slow down.’

Out of the two, Hojlund is the more likely to feature this weekend after he was pictured back in training this week. Ten Hag will give a latest update on the pair on Thursday.

Tyrell Malacia, Victor Lindelof and Leny Yoro remain absent. Mason Mount has also returned to training following his latest injury setback but Saturday’s trip to Selhurst Park is likely to come too soon for him.
