(4-2-3-1) Casemiro and Erikson to start – Man United predicted starting XI vs Brentford; Early team news and injury updates

Erik ten Hag is facing a major selection dilemma when Manchester United return to Premier League action against Brentford this weekend.

Three players; Amad Diallo, Kobbie Mainoo, and Alejandro Garnacho withdrew from their international assignments last week and went back to Manchester early for evaluation.

Man United supporters will be hoping that those knocks, whose severity is unknown, were only preventative measures before a hectic stretch of home and European matches. Ten Hag is most likely to be concerned with defense.

While Noussair Mazraoui is not anticipated to return until next month following a minor cardiac procedure, Harry Maguire has joined the injury list due to a knee issue.

With Diogo Dalot expected to return to his usual right-back position in Mazraoui’s absence, Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia remain ineligible for selection.

36-year-old Jonny Evans could be shifted into that role where Lisandro Martinez can also feature.

17-year-old Harry Amass featured at left-back during pre-season and while his manager has tipped him to break into the first-team, the suggestions are Ten Hag and his staff have concerns over whether he his physically ready to make the step up to senior football at this stage.

There are also concerns further up the pitch with Manuel Ugarte who was forced off playing for Uruguay in their World Cup qualifier against Ecuador.
